SKF and KISSsoft AG deliver connected software
13 Dec,2018
SKF and the Swiss gearbox design software developer, KISSsoft, have agreed to incorporate SKF’s bearing calculation software within KISSsoft's software.
With this combination, engineers will have a seamless experience when working on a new gearbox. They will be able to make appropriate bearing choices for their machine designs based on the newest bearing technologies. The latest SKF bearing data will be made available to KISSsoft users via SKF's cloud based services. Results are all displayed in a concise engineering report format available through the KISSsoft software.
This development is the first of what will be a collaboration between the two companies that add value for their respective customers. Design engineers need one-interface seamless tools where data, design rules and constraints are updated regularly and where documentation is done throughout and in a user-friendly format.
Dr. Stefan Beermann, CEO at KISSsoft AG, informed:" Our cooperation with SKF offers our clients an unique opportunity to combine a desktop application with calculation services from the cloud, thus combining the powerful and extensive possibilities of a local installation with the flexibility and correctness of an internet based service."
Victoria van Camp, CTO and President, Innovation and Business Development at SKF, comments: “Industry 4.0 offers a work transformation for design- and process engineers, and finally makes the old term ‘concurrent engineering’ reality.. With this new partnership between SKF and KISSsoft, we demonstrate how our respective digital platforms can be combined to speed up development at the earliest stages of their design. In fact, we are helping to enable agile development also in machine design. This is an exciting first step for our two companies and we are convinced that it is well received by users, with plenty of feedback for further joint improvements.”
